Hi Everyone:

Now that Field Day 2013 is in the books and its either a bunch of high fives or whimpering in your beer for amount of contacts made, I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of all DARS members to thank Darrel (VE7CUS) for all his efforts in organizing this year field day event. For those of our members who either operated or just came out for a visit, they found they had a wonderful time.

As you know the intent of Field Day is an exercise to show in case of an emergency we can deploy and setup without plugging the equipment into a socket somewhere. As some of you were aware this year’s field day was both that exercise and emergency exercise rolled into one. On Friday, talking with a friend in Edmonton about the flooding situation I made the offer if we could lend assistance call me. He said he might take us up on the offer. Although we weren’t called upon, we had two or three stations at the field day site and one station offsite monitoring VE7SUN DSTAR repeater in case we were needed.

I saw cameras being clicked all over the place and in the coming days we will make sure Chris gets the pics and we will get a selection on the web for all to see.

Thanks again Darrel for all your hard work and we look forward to field day 2014.
