A big thank you to all who turned on a radio and participated in the Harris Barn Special Event Station yesterday. It was truly an over whelming success from the organizers point of view. From emails I received as the day went along I know some of you were having a lot of issues with getting out. Some more then others. From my ham chair I started at 8am and was starting to wonder if I was going to have issues. I was on 20m and made a couple of SSB contacts but it seemed that I wasn’t getting out as the contacts were few and far between. Went to PSK and the waterfall had stations on but again very little success. I thought this was going to be a trying day. Decided go give 15m a try and couldn’t believe it. Hardly saw anyone on the waterfall but the contacts just kept coming. Even had a small pile up at one point.
But the real success story isn’t in the amount of contacts made but the comments we were receiving. Both Dave (VE7AHT) and myself were comparing notes as the day went on and we were both surprised by many contacts thanking DARS for doing this special event station and helping to keep HF alive. (Keeping HF alive was an actual comment) Those comments I wasn’t expecting. My macro for PSK had our web address on it and the amount of contacts who were looking up our web address while we were in contact and commenting on the great job Chris did on the site was unbelievable.
Once again from the organizers of Harris Barn Special Event Station
Thank You!
