DARS News Notes

*********************
We were shown a new antenna analyzer last night which Tom took home and is playing with. Early reports show this will be a worthwhile item to have available to members. Will get Tom’s final report next Thursday and go from there.

If you have time on Sunday, don’t forget the under 20 club at 19:30 (7:30 pm) on 28.020. More the merrier. Keep in mind our repeater system is being monitored during the under 20 club so if your feeling a bit lost or over whelmed, get on the repeater and let one of the other members help you out.

Our special event station is moving right along for September 7. This is showing all the signs of being one fun day. We have ten operators so far that have signed up (VE7AHT, VE7FKY, VA7TU, VA7QLT, VA7CI, VE7PKE, VE7LEE, VE7BGD, VE7TJF & VE7JWS.) If I have missed you please email me again and if you haven’t signed up yet send me a note. By mid June we should have a webpage up and running explaining all the details. In order to participate you have to be a DARS member in good standing and you can operate as many hours as you wish. Band and mode of your choice. It just doesn’t get any simpler then that. Chris is working on some fun things for webpage for that day. Stay tuned!!

VE7WLF sent out earlier today looking for more volunteers for the Ladner Days Parade on May 26 and the Walk Run & Roll event on June 2. If your able to help out consult the earlier emails that were sent out or email: ve7wlf@gmail.com

VE7CGE LOU
VE7CXU DON
VE7CZV ROB
VE7FFP ROBIN
VE7FWZ BOB
VE7GHV ED
VE7HSW STAN
VE7OM RALPH
VE7ZZV TED

As you can see we can still use more operators. If I have missed anyone on the above list please let me know.
HELP PLEASE! – FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO ANYONE YOU THINK MIGHT POSSIBLY BE INTERESTED IN JOINING US. ANNOUNCEMENTS ON NETS, CLUB MEETINGS, NEWSLETTERS, WEBSITES ETC. WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Assignments will include such things as assembly area, judging, shuttle buses, police, with various Hyack and parade officials, P.A. announcer, dispersal etc. The parade committee also counts on us for communication at many of the intersections along the parade route and would appreciate any help we can provide with the actual manning of the traffic.

Operators assigned to the assembly area and parade officials will start communications at 08:00 and those assigned to points along the parade route will start a little later. The event starts at 10:30 with the Vancouver Police Motorcycle Drill Team and the parade follows. We are usually all done by around 13:00.

As always, new hams are very welcome. No experience is necessary, we can certainly buddy up any brand new hams with an experienced operator. All that is required is a 2 metre handheld (and hopefully a spare battery!)

I will of course supply further details as the event draws closer.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Ken Clarke
